Amazon Synopsis: Emma loses an important modeling job due to an injury she got while playing with her brothers. How will she pay for the beautiful holiday presents she planned for her family and friends?
Emma is playing ball with her brothers on an unusually warm winter afternoon. But an errant toss from her brother Matt hits her right on the nose! Luckily, it’s nothing more serious than a little swelling, but it’s enough to make her lose an important modeling job at The Special Day salon. Mona hires “mean girl” Olivia Allen to fill in. Olivia is thrilled, not only for the job, but also for a chance to spread some nasty rumors about Emma. Worst of all, now Emma can’t afford the beautiful holiday gifts she planned to buy her family and friends. Emma’s Cupcake Club pals remind her that the best gifts come from the heart, and don’t have a price tag.

My Review: Emma and her crew, the Cupcake Club, are booming in business. The timing is great, since the girls need money to buy holiday gifts for friends and family. But suddenly disaster strikes: Emma gets hit square in the nose with a football! Since Emma also does a few modeling jobs, her face is ruined, right? How will she earn enough money to pay for the tons of gifts she wants to buy for the others? And how will she face the outside world with black eyes and a swollen face? Luckily, the Cupcake Club lends lots of hands, from happiness to advice giving. Will Emma solve all the problems in time for the holidays?
First of all, I just have to say that this was a really good book. I easily give this story 5 stars! It totally deserves the rating. This book is really detailed, and it gives a good example of how kids in middle school would feel going outside with a black and red face. I love the supportive friends and the cupcake making business. They all try to cheer her up, from smushed cupcakes (like her face) to their mom's giving Emma the needs: concealer, teabags, arnica cream, and parsley. The cupcakes they bake sound really delicious, too. If you don't know this about the Cupcake Club, it is that they actually bake cupcakes and deliver them to parties for a profit. One surprise in the story was Olivia Allen (she is the mean girl if you don't know), but I won't spoil that part because that is one of the best parts of all. Overall, this book was one of the best books in the series, and that is saying something because it is number 23. It came out in December, by the way, and there are like 4 copies in the library. Be sure to check out the book, and enjoy!
