Arts and Crafts Week 6: Thanksgiving Craft

Hey everyone! Today's craft is a cupcake! Baking is really fun, and I have a couple of decorative ideas to really personalize your cupcakes into the Thanksgiving theme. Just make some vanilla cupcakes, depending on how many you want (the reason why I am not posting a recipe is because recipes can be found all over the internet and some may be preferred than others). Below is the idea on how to decorate a cupcake as a turkey!

They look somewhat like the following:

the picture is from http://www.yourcupofcake.com,
specifically from this link

The recipe for the image is on this link. I have just listed the steps since you are on this page anyways.

Supplies needed:
  • Reese's pieces in 3 different colors
  • Chocolate frosting (brown colored)
  • Orange colored frosting, and a bowl to put it in
  • Red M&Ms (or Skittles)
  • Hershey Kisses
  • One cupcake

  1.  Frost the cupcakes with chocolate frosting. Put on a thick layer for this body of the turkey.
  2. Take several of one color of M&Ms and lay them on the thick layer of frosting on the cupcake in a half-fanned out shape. Repeat with the next layer of a different color, going inside the previous in the fan, and do it until you finish. These will be the feathers of the turkey.
  3. Take the orange frosting and put it in a bowl. Then, holding the flat side of the Hershey Kiss, dip the point of the Hershey Kiss into the orange frosting. Swirl it around so the orange frosting will spread on the point to act as the beak of the bird.
  4. Stick the kiss on the cupcake.
I didn't add eyes, but the website does say how to do them, I think. Well, have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!
